This specimen was lot 25131 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1815-GJ Madrid, AU55 NGC, fully struck on both sides with abundant mint luster, an appealing example with no apparent flaws." This type was issued at Madrid 1814-20 and 1824 and is the last issue of the traditional gold four escudos. Unlike the four escudos of the Latin American mints, it is fairly common.
