This type was struck in Madrid 1788-97, 1804-08 and in Seville 1803 and 1807. Its specification is the same as Latin American four reales yet, like most metropolitan Spanish coinage of Charles IV, it is much scarcer. The design is also distinctly different.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.896 fine silver, .390 troy oz fine silver.
