Spain 1721-S J 2 reales
Shown is a Spanish two reales struck in 1721 at the Seville mint. Assayer J is recorded for the year 1718-1726. The first specimen was auctioned by Marti Hervera in Barcelona, Spain, on October 25, 2011, where it sold for 35 euro (about US$58 including buyer's fees). The catalog description reads:
"2 Reales. 1721. SEVILLA. J. MBC+/MBC. (two reales of 1721, Seville mint, very fine to good very fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 76001 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 2 Reales, 1721-S J. Seville Mint. Philip V. NGC Unc Details--Rim Filing."
