Spain 1633-Seg R 4 reales
This specimen was lot 74619 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 4 Reales, 1633-R. Segovia Mint. Philip IV. NGC Unc Details--Environmental Damage. A well-produced 4 Reales piece with crisp original detail. The surfaces show a deep gunmetal finish, accounting for the designation, but the coin's appearance is overall elegant due to the beautiful design and stark surfaces. From the David Sterling Collection." This type was milled at Segovia 1621, 1625-36, 1651 and 1659-60. Madrid, Seville and Toledo also struck four reales cobs in 1633.
