This specimen was lot 1254 in Aureo y Calicó sale 391 (Barcelona, June 2022), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,514 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1594. Felipe II. Toledo. C. 2 escudos. Escudo entre /C/ y fecha de cuatro dígitos en vertical. Ex Colección Princesa de Éboli, 20/10/2016, nº 306. Rara. MBC+. (kingdom of Spain, Philip II, two escudos of 1594. Shield divides date. Rare, choice very fine.)"
This type was struck at Toledo 1590-97 and undated. None are common but this is a better date.
