This specimen was lot 72244 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTHERN RHODESIA. 1/2 Crown, 1936. George V. PCGS MS-62. Possessing superb luster for the assigned grade." Rhodesia, named after diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes, was created a self-governing colony of Britain in 1923. Coinage commenced in 1932. The colony was federated with Northern Rhodesia in 1956 but is now Zimbabwe. This type was struck 1932-36.
