This specimen was lot 24729 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Florin 1924, NGC MS64. Fully brilliant, with superb white frost. The market for nice Mint State South African coins continues to be very strong, with numbers of coins few, and collectors aggressively pursuing the few available coins. From The Ted Reams Collection." The florin or two shilings was struck in South Africa 1923-60. It was 0.800 fine silver until 1930 and 0.500 fine thereafter. Later issues of 1931-36 had a revised reverse stating "2 SHILLINGS" instead of "FLORIN". The 1923 and 1924 are the only common dates.
