This specimen was issued by the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands, especially Guadalcanal, were the scene of heavy fighting during World War Two. Coinage commenced in 1977. This coin is a product of the Franklin Mint and was issued 1977-83. The reverse depicts a clam shell mounted on a ring.
Recorded mintage: 200 proofs plus 544 for the uncirculated sets plus 5,148 struck in silver.
Specification: copper-nickel, 40 mm diameter.
