This specimen was issued by the Solomon Islands as part of the F.A.O. series. The Solomon Island, especially Guadalcanal, were the scene of heavy fighting during World War Two. Coinage commenced in 1977. This coin, struck at the Royal Mint, does not bear the Franklin Mint mintmark. The rest are products of the Franklin Mint and were issued 1977-83.

Recorded mintage: 1,828,000 plus 6,000 proofs (FM).

Specification: bronze, 2.6 g, 17.5 mm diameter.
