Schwyz 1629 dicken
This specimen was lot 2924 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 8,000 CHF (about US$9,599 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Schwyz, Dicken 1629, Schwyz. Gekrönter Doppeladler, im Abschnitt der Schwyzer Schild zwischen der Jahreszahl. Rv. Der heilige Martin zu Pferde nach rechts. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. (canton of Schwyz, dicken of 1629, Schwyz mint. Obverse: crowned double headed eagle supported the cantonal arms and divides the date; reverse: St. Martin rides to right. Very rare, Good very fine.)"
A dicken was about one quarter thaler or one third gulden. This rare type of 1623, 1629 and 1656 is priced even higher than the thaler (Dav-4629).
