Schwyz 1624 schilling
The first specimen was lot 3190 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Schwyz, Schilling 1624, Schwyz. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Schwyz, schilling of 1624, Schwyz mint. Rare in this condition, Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 4415 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Schwyz, Schilling 1624, Schwyz. Wappen leer. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Schwyz, schilling of 1624, Schwyz mint, blank coat of arms. About Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1623-24, 1629-30, 1633, 1653-56 and 1673 with 1624 being by far the most common date. Numista states that forty schillings made a gulden.
