Sincona sale 95, lot 4421

This specimen was lot 4421 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$277 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Schwyz, Schilling 1655, Schwyz. Seltene Variante mit Kreuzchen in der linken Wappenecke. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 5883. (Switzerland, canton of Schwyz, Schwyz mint, rare variety with a cross on the left corner of the arms. Very rare, About Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1623-24, 1629-30, 1633, 1653-56, 1673 and the 1623 is a scarce date. St. Martin appears on the reverse. One gulden made forty schilling. Schwyz is one of the three original cantons of the Swiss confederation, formed in 1291.
