Schwyz 1630 dicken
This specimen was lot 3444 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,850 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Schwyz, Dicken 1630, Schwyz. Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Nimben, unten im Abschnitt das leere Schwyzerwappen, die Jahreszahl teilend. Rv. Brustbild des hl. Martin mit Mitra und Nimbus nach links. Selten. Sehr schön. Schrötlingsfehler. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 11, Zürich, Mai 2013, Los 2830. (Switzerland, canton of Schwyz, dicken of 1630, Schwyz mint. Obverse: crowned and nimbate double headed eagle, empty Schwyz arms divided the date in the exergue; reverse: mitred and haloed bust of St. Martin left. Rare, Very fine, Flan flaw.)"
This is a rare one year type. A dicken was roughly a quarter thaler.
