Stephen Album sale 47, lot 1292

This specimen was lot 1292 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCHWARZBURG-RUDOLSTADT: Friedrich Günther, 1807-1867, AR 2 thaler, 1845-A, key date of the two-year type, toned, mintage of only 5,100 pieces, NGC graded AU58, S." This scarce type was struck previously in 1841. It is the only double thaler from this state struck during the nineteenth century.
