This specimen was lot 40425 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $2,938. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOHEMIA. S[c]hlick. Taler, 1759-TF. NGC MS-63. Franz Heinrich I (1740-66). One year type. Toned." The counts of Schlick in Bohemia were the original proprietors of the mint at Joachimsthal, where the first "thalers" were struck. However, by the eighteenth century the counts had long since lost the mint and only a few scarce pieces were struck. Of the three listed for the 1700's (Dav-1195, -1196, -1197), this is the least rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
