This specimen was lot 1335 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,235 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN, HOLSTEIN-GOTTORP, HERZOGTUM, Christian Albrecht, 1659-1694. 2 Mark 1681, Schleswig. Münzmeister Claus Jacob Mecklenburg. Von größter Seltenheit. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Holstein-Gottorp, Christian Albrecht, 1659-94, two mark of 1681, Schleswig mint. Very rare, edge defects, about extremely fine.)"

The dynastic affairs of this duchy were complicated even by German standards as the dukes were related to the king of Denmark and even the czar of Russia. Most coin issues are rare, including this one minted 1681 only. This two mark piece weighs three-fourths of a thaler.
