Schaumburg-Lippe 1763 10 thaler Fr-3068
This specimen was lot 1090 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$13,214 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Schaumburg-Lippe, Fürstentum, Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst, 1748-1777. 10 Taler (Doppelte Pistole) 1763, Bückeburg. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. Feine Goldpatina. Leicht justiert und minimal berieben. (Germany, principality of Schaumburg-Lippe, William Frederick Ernest, 1748-77, ten thaler or double pistole of 1763, Bückeburg mint. Very rare, Extremely fine, Nice gold toning, Minor adjustment marks and lightly cleaned.)"
The tiny county of Schaumburg-Lippe produced few coins in the eighteenth century but managed to issue one-third thalers, two-thirds thalers, thalers and ten thalers (shown here) in the 1760's.
