Steve Album sale 51, lot 962

This specimen was lot 962 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXONY: Friedrich August II, 1836-1854, AR 2 thaler, 1850, once lightly cleaned and retoned, Unc, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type, struck 1839-54, is among the more common double thalers of nineteenth century Germany.

Recorded mintage: 113,000.
