Saxony 1834-G ducat Fr-2894
This specimen was lot 230 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$5,449 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Anton, 1827-1836. Dukat 1834, G. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 65 PL (4463241-013). GOLD. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Nur 1.582 Exemplare geprägt. Prachtexemplar. Winz. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, polierte Platte. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 338, Osnabrück 2020, Nr. 3559. (Germany, kingdom of Saxony, Anton, 1827-36, ducat of 1836. Graded NGC MS65PL, scarce, especially in this quality, only 1,582 examples struck, choice example. Minor edge defects, polished fields.)"
Friedberg lumps all the ducats of this ruler under one catalog number but this type of 1829-36 has an older bust than the issue of 1827 (KM 1115). Ducats were last struck in 1838.
