Friedrich August III "Mining" Taler 1767-EDC MS65 NGC, Dresden mint. Yet another fantastic occupant from the lauded collection of Elvira Clain-Stefanelli, famed numismatist and director of the National Numismatic Collection of the Smithsonian. Understated periwinkle and gold toning occupies the semi-Prooflike fields that flash with unimpeded brilliance, a lovely background upon which effortlessly sharp devices reside to be admired. Conditionally sensitive and while a handful seemingly exist uncertified but in Mint State, none approach the superior preservation and aesthetical caliber witnessed here; a fact confirmed by NGC as the finest for the date-type and certainly predestined for an esteemed cabinet. Ex. Clain-Stefanelli Collection (Stack's Bowers ANA Auction 168, August 2012, Lot 40567). From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II."
