Künker sale 335, lot 4293

This specimen was lot 4293 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,402 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM. Friedrich August I. 1694-1733 (August der Starke). Reichstaler 1719, Dresden, auf die Vermählung seines Sohnes, Kurprinz Friedrich August (später Friedrich August II. bzw. August III. von Polen), mit Erzherzogin Maria Josepha von Österreich. Kl. Randfehler, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus I, 1694-1733, thaler of 1719, Dresden mint, on the marriage of his son, crown prince Frederick Augustus, to archduchess Josepha of Austria. Small edge defects, about extremely fine.)"

This marriage issue of 1719-IGS includes KM 836 (1/6 thaler), KM 837 (1/3 thaler), KM 838 (2/3 thaler), KM 840 (thaler, shown here), KM 842 (ducat), KM 843 (double ducat), KM 844 (triple ducat).
