Saxony 1714-ILH thaler Dav-2653
This specimen was lot 4374 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August I. 1694-1733 (August der Starke). Reichstaler 1714, Dresden. R Hübsche Patina, sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Leipziger Münzhandlung und Auktion Heidrun Höhn 94, Leipzig 2020, Nr. 1801. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus I, 1694-1733, thaler of 1714, Dresden mint. Rare, handsome patina, very fine.)"
This type was issued steadily 1709-33 but is still scarce, like most Saxon thalers of the period 1660-1760. Frederick Augustus was also king of Poland.
