This specimen was lot 55788 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/4 Taler, 1656-CR. Dresden Mint. Johann Georg I. PCGS AU-53. From the Augustana Collection." This type was struck 1626-56 and is fairly common. Quarter thalers were also struck for Johann Georg II in 1656 (KM 449.1). Mintmaster CR (Constantin Rothe) worked at the Chemnitz mint 1640-78.
