perhaps the same specimen

This specimen was lot 70586 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/4 Thaler, 1631-HI. Johann Georg I (1615-56). PCGS VF-30 Secure Holder. Although this type of 1626-56 is listed as common, this is only the third specimen we have offered in recent years and the previous one was damaged (NYINC auction, January 2015, lot 3740). Toning provides bold contrast to the details. A worthy companion of the thaler (Dav-7601) we are offering in this sale. From the Trebuchet Collection."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 7.11 g, 0.835 fine silver, 31 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-407.
