Saxony 1591-HB thaler Dav-9812
This specimen was lot 969 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €550 (about US$757 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Christian Ier (1586-1591), AR Taler, 1591 HB, Dresde. Commémorant sa mort. D/ B. cuirassé à d., ten. un heaume et une épée sur l'épaule. R/ Inscription en huit lignes. Légère porosité. Griffes au revers. Très Beau. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Christian I, 1586-91, silver thaler of 1591, Dresden mint, commemorating his death. Obverse: armored bust right, holding a helmet and a sword; reverse: inscription in eight lines. Slightly porous, reverse scratches, Very Fine.)"
