Künker sale 263, lot 1161

This specimen was lot 1161 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,098 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Johann Friedrich der Großmütige und Moritz, 1541-1547. Taler 1543, Buchholz. Attraktives sehr schönes Exemplar. (Electorate of Saxony, John Frederick the Magnanimous and Maurice, 1541-47, thaler of 1543, Buchholz mint. Attractive very fine.)"

This type of 1543-46 is common and very similar to Dav-9736. It was issued by the Ernestine branch of the dynasty.
