This specimen was lot 75482 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, " SAUDI ARABIA. Qirsh, AH 1378 (1959). Lahore Mint. Sa'ud bin 'Abd al-'Aziz. NGC MS-64. This enchanting near-Gem presents exceptional brilliance and flair." This type, accompanied by a two ghirsh (KM 41) and a four ghirsh (KM 42), was struck previously in AH 1376. In 1963, the coinage was reformed so that 100 halala = one riyal and the ghirsh was dropped.
