Stack's Bowers 2021 NYINC sale, lot 24548
SB121-24548r.jpg

This specimen was lot 24548 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAUDI ARABIA. Guinea, AH 1377 (1957). ALMOST UNCIRCULATED. A well struck Guinea with luster remaining in the protected areas and no notable surface marks." Altho we have followed numismatic tradition (i.e., the SCWC) in cataloguing these as guineas, the weight matches the sovereign (20 shillings), not the guinea (21 shillings).

Recorded mintage: 1,579,000.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold.

Catalog reference: Fr-2; KM-43.
