Sincona sale 38, lot 1571

This specimen was lot 1571 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$720 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Carlo Felice, 1821-1831 20 Lire 1829. Genova. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Sardinia, Charles Felix, 1821-31, twenty lire of 1829, Genoa mint, Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine)"

This type was struck at Turin and Genoa (shown here) 1821-31. Of the five known dates from Genoa, this is the most common, but it is still rarer than most of the Turin issues.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.45 grams, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW, this specimen 6.41 g.
