This specimen was lot 1395 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,171 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Savoyen / Sardinien, Vittorio Amedeo III. 1773-1796. 1/2 Doppia 1787, Torino. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS63. Kleine Schrötlingsfehler. (Italy, kingdom of Sardinia, Victor Amadeus III, 1773-96, half doppia of 1787, Turin mint. Rare in this condition, graded NGC MS-63, Minor flan flaw.)"
This type is noted for 1786-94. In other parts of Italy, a doppia was a double ducat but in Sardinia a doppie was a double scudo, hence the different weight standard.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
