This specimen was lot 7271 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAN MARINO. 10 Scudi, 1978. NGC MS-64. No detracting marks and with nice glowing luster." San Marino is in the Italian Apennines and is a protectorate of Italy but remains independent. This type was struck in Rome altho the theme is vague. San Marinan circulating coinage was based on the lira but gold commemoratives were usually one, two or five scudi. This is the only ten scudi in the series. San Marino now uses the euro.

Specification: 30 g, 0.917 fine gold, 34 mm diameter, reeded edge.
