Künker sale 264, lot 3552

This specimen was lot 3552 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €480 (about US$620 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SALZBURG, ERZBISTUM Hieronymus von Colloredo, 1772-1803. Dukat 1782. GOLD. R Min. Randfehler, vorzüglich. (Germany, archbishopric of Salzburg, Hieronymus von Colloredo, 1772-1803, ducat of 1782. A few rim bumps, extremely fine.)"

This type of 1772-86 is the most common Salzburg ducat and may be the most common German ducat of the eighteenth century. A commemorative honoring the 1200th anniversary of the archbishopric is also noted for 1782 (Fr-887).

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, 3.49 g.
