Paris von Lodron. NGC EF Details--Tooled. A well centered and detailed Klippe with medium gray toning throughout. A depression on the reverse center is a lamination error from the original flan." The Archbishopric of Salzburg was an ecclesiastical state between Bavaria and Austria and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client. In the seventeenth century it was blessed with a number of productive silver mines and the prince-archbishop was a prolific issuer of coins, particularly thalers. This type was struck 1627, 1642, 1646-52 and is fairly scarce. The klippe obtains a 50% premium over the round form (KM 107.1).
