This specimen was lot 2664 in Künker sale 384 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €480 (about US$620 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Georg von Küenburg, 1586-1587. Einseitiger 2 Pfennig (Zweier) 1586. Von großer Seltenheit. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Bankhaus Partin 33, München 1991, Nr. 1183. (archbishopric of Salzburg, George of Kuenburg, 1586-87, uniface two pence of 1586. Extremely rare, about very fine.)"

The Archbishopric of Salzburg was an ecclesiastical state between Bavaria and Austria and usually ruled by a Hapsburg client. Four pfennig made a kreuzer and sixty kreuzer made a guldenthaler. In the seventeenth century, Salzburg was blessed with a number of productive silver mines and the prince-archbishop was a prolific issuer of coins, particularly thalers. The archbishopric was secularized in 1803 and passed to Austria in 1814.
