Stack's Bowers 2022 NYINC sale, lot 8179

This specimen was lot 8179 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 50 Rubles, 1996-(M). Moscow Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Wildlife protection series, featuring an Amur tiger. A bright and attractive Proof, with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This NCLT featuring the tiger accompanied several other gold issues, including Y-540 and Y-539.

Recorded mintage: 1,500 proofs.

Specification: 7.77 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.250 troy oz AGW.
