This specimen was lot 72201 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. 50 Kopeks, 1922-AT. Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Mint. NGC MS-64. This nicely preserved near-Gem survivor exhibits a bold strike with lustrous surfaces and rich mottled patina adding to its pleasing appearance and originality." This type was struck 1921-22 toward the end of the Russian Civil War as the Communists consolidated power. It accompanied a silver ruble (KM Y84).
