Russia 1907-EB 50 kopeks
This specimen was lot 31184 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Nicholas II Proof 50 Kopecks 1907-ЭБ PR62 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. A fantastically toned Proof striking of this popular issue which carries one of the lower mintage figures within the series for the standard business strike. Though light handling is noted in line with the grade, a plethora of sapphire and lapis lazuli color welling up at the margins alongside merlot centers firmly establishes the coin's strong visual allure." This is a scarce date of a type struck 1895-1914. The fifty kopeks replaced the old poltina or half ruble.
Recorded mintage: 200,000.
Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver.
