Sincona sale 93, lot 1229

This specimen was lot 1229 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,178 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Alexander II. 1855-1881, Rouble 1874, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NI. 1.5 roubles according to Petrov.Gutes vorzüglich. Leicht gereinigt, About Uncirculated, Lightly cleaned."

This type was struck 1859-85 in respectable quantities but not so many as the prior type (Dav-283).

Recorded mintage: 648,000 plus proofs; a better date.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 20.67 g.
