Sincona sale 84, lot 449

This specimen was lot 449 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$539 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 15 Kopecks 1874, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NI. NGC MS65. Extraordinary condition."

This type was struck 1867-93 and 1896-1914 in substantial numbers and most dates, including this one, are common. Proofs exist.

Recorded mintage: 6,960,000.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.500 fine silver, this specimen 2.64 g.
