This specimen was lot 35251 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Kopek, ND (1714)-HA. NGC MS-61 BN. Peter l (The Great) (1689-1725)." In the days of Peter the Great, kopeks were struck in billon (KM 153) as well as copper (shown here). One hundred kopeks make a ruble. The SCWC shows kopeks ranging in weight from 4.10 g (KM 185) to 20.85 g (KM C3.2).
