Sincona sale 33, lot 3213

This specimen was lot 3213 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUMÄNIEN. Carol I. 1866-1914 5 Lei 1885. Bukarest. Selten. Vorzüglich. Winz. Kratzer auf der Vs. (Romania, Carol I, 1866-1914, five lei of 1885, Bucharest mint. Rare, Extremely fine, Small scratches on obverse.)"

This type was struck at Bucharest 1881-85 and is common in worn condition tho this is a rare date.

Recorded mintage: 40,000.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge, this specimen 24.93 g.
