Sincona sale 33, lot 3199

This specimen was lot 3199 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUMÄNIEN. Carol I. 1866-1914 2 Bani 1879. Bukarest. Gutes vorzüglich. (Romania, Carol I, 1866-1914, two bani of 1879, Bucharest mint. Good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Bucharest 1879-81 and is common in worn condition. For 1879, small and large diameter varieties exist.

Recorded mintage: 500,000.

Specification: 2 g, copper, 19.5 or 20 mm diameter, this specimen 2.08 g.
