This specimen was lot 34919 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "Rhodesia: Republic Proof 1/2 Cent 1972 PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. An extreme rarity in proof, with only a paultry 12 pieces produced and just 3 in this remarkable level of preservation from both NGC and PCGS combined, this milk chocolaty Gem with its champagne central hues is an absolute marvel to behold. From the Feeling Good Collection." This type of 1970-77 is common but the proofs are rare. It was accompanied by a one cent, 2½ cents, five cents, ten cents, twenty cents and twenty-five cents. Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe, altho chaos and misrule continue.

Recorded mintage: 2,000,000 plus 12 proofs.
