from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72920

This specimen was lot 72920 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $517. The catalog description^[1] noted, "RHODESIA. 2-1/2 Cents, 1970. NGC PROOF-68 CAMEO. RARE, from a reported mintage of only 12 pieces. Hard mirror fields with frosted cameo devices. Full mint brilliance and an exceptional gem." This one year type is common but the proofs are rare. Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe.

Recorded mintage: 4,000,000 plus 12 proofs.
