Künker sale 386, part of lot 4841

This specimen was part of lot 4841 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), which sold for €220 (about US$284 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANKFURT, FÜRSTENTUM FRANKFURT, Carl Theodor von Dalberg, Fürstprimas des Rheinbundes, 1806-1815. Konv.-Taler 1808, Frankfurt. Dazu: Kreuzer 1808, 1809; Ku.-Heller 1808. AKS 2; Kahnt 186; Slg. Pick 835; Slg. Walther 692. 4 Stück., Felder geglättet (Konv.-Taler), sehr schön und vorzüglich. (Confederation of the Rhine, Charles Theodore of Dalberg, first prince, 1806-15, convention thaler of 1808, Frankfurt mint. Included are two kreuzers of 1808-09 and a copper heller of 1808. Four pieces, the thaler with fields smoothed, very fine and extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1808-10. The SCWC also mentions KM 4, with "SCHEIDMÜNZ" on the obverse. The Rhenish Confederation was a shortlived German state set up by Napoleon to replace the antique Holy Roman Empire. It grouped his allies (Baden, Wurttemberg and Bavaria) and his puppets (Berg, Isenburg) but vanished after his fall.
