Künker sale 405, lot 3092

This specimen was lot 3092 in Künker sale 405 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,231 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE REICHSSTADT REGENSBURG. DIE ZEIT DES KAISERS FERDINAND II., 1619-1637. Kurant- und Scheidemünzen aus der Zeit des Kaisers Ferdinand II. Nach Überwindung der Kipperkrise 1623. Reichstaler 1628 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1626 und 1627 geändert), mit Titel Ferdinands II. Münzmeister Balthasar Ziegler. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Kl. Zainende, vorzüglich. (city of Regensburg, local coinage from the time of emperor Ferdinand II, after the kipper crisis of 1623. One thaler of 1628, 1628/7/6 overdate, in the name of Ferdinand II. Very rare date, small clip, extremely fine.)"

The SCWC lists this type for 1626-27 only. Another thaler of 1628 (KM 51/Dav-5746) has the obverse legend spelled "MONETA".
