This specimen was lot 965 in Jean Elsen sale 138 (Brussels, September 2018), where it sold for €180 (about US$250 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PRUSSE, Wilhelm II (1888-1918), AV 10 Mark, 1896A. presque Superbe. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William II, 1888-1918, gold ten mark of 1896. about Extremely Fine.)"
This type, issued 1890-1913, is common and is a product of the Berlin mint (mintmark "A").
Recorded mintage: 1,080,816, a common date.
Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
