Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 693

This specimen was lot 693 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 10 Mark, 1897-A. NGC PROOF-66 CAMEO. Finest certified. Light attractive toning. Needle sharp strike with hard mirror surfaces and frosted devices. A sparkling gem worthy of the finest collection. Ex: Oldergui Collection." This type, issued 1890-1913, is common and is a product of the Berlin mint (mintmark "A"), tho this is a better date.

Recorded mintage: 114,004.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
