The first specimen was lot 1136 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$198 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Brandenburg / Prussia. Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Taler 1803 A, Berlin. Vorzüglich. Kleine Schrötlingsfehler. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, thaler of 1803, Berlin mint. Extremely fine, Minor flan flaws.)"

The second specimen was lot 3971 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €460 (about US$640 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm III. 1797-1840. Taler 1803, A. Mit Signatur L am Armabschnitt (Stempelschneider Daniel Friedrich Loos). Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William III, 1797-1840, thaler of 1803, with initial "L" below the bust. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1797-1809 at Berlin (shown here), Breslau and Stettin and is common in worn condition.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, the first specimen 22.10 g; the second specimen 22,08 g.
