This specimen was lot 71425 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 1/3 Taler, 1802-A. Berlin Mint. Friedrich Wilhelm III. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. The finest graded in the PCGS census, this attractively toned specimen features steel gray surfaces with some alluring hints of gold. Some scattered haymarks are noted, but are fairly consistent with the type." This type was struck 1801-09 and most dates are scarce. This one is the most available.
